Charles S. Thatcher

Charles S. Thatcher, a native of Illinois, received the Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance in 1976 from Illinois Wesleyan University. Further study took him to the Musikhochschule in Cologne, Germany, and to Saint Meinrad School of Theology in Indiana.
Charles enjoyed a career in church music, serving as organist and choir director for Roman Catholic parishes in Virginia and Florida. In 2011, he was appointed Director of Music for the Diocese of Orlando and St. James Cathedral, a position he held until his retirement in 2017.
As a composer and arranger, Charles’ focus has always been on music for liturgical use. His published works include hymn concertatos, choral anthems, processional antiphons, and other ritual music for choir, congregation, and instruments.
