Brandon Martell

Brandon Martell is a well-rounded musician who is skilled in the arts of music performance, music composition, music arranging, and music pedagogy. Brandon graduated with Distinction from the Eastman School of Music where he was a Rogers Scholar, with Bachelor of Music Degrees in Applied Music and Music Education, and a Performer’s Certificate (2013). As a composer, Brandon's choral compositions and arrangements are published with Excelcia Music Publishing (2020 to present) and Galaxy Music Corporation (November 2024). His SATB a cappella arrangement of "Bye Bye Blackbird" earned an "Editors’ Choice" distinction from J.W. Pepper (2024). As a trombonist, Brandon has received many honors, including being named the winner of the American Trombone Workshop’s Tenor Trombone National Solo Competition for ages 18 and under (2008), and being a member of the winning trombone choir, the Eastman Trombone Choir, for the International Trombone Association’s Trombone Choir Competition (2011). He has also performed on trombone as a substitute member of the Florida Orchestra (2012), and as a tour member of the Eastman Wind Ensemble (2013). As a vocalist, he has performed professionally with The Dickens Carolers (2016 to 2022). Brandon is a member of the faculty at Calvary Christian High School, where he is the Choral Director (2013 to present). Under his direction, the Calvary Choir has been named a "Critics’ Choice" SATB choir for District 9 twice (2023 and 2024), and received Superior ratings at the Florida Vocal Association State Choral Music Performance Assessment twice (2022 and 2023). He lives in St. Petersburg, Florida with his wife Shaye, and their daughters Raina and Holly.
