Paul David Thomas is assistant professor and coordinator of music theory and composition at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX. His wide range of compositional interests include writing for performer and electronics, acoustic chamber music, and group improvisation.

Originally from northeastern Ohio, Paul received degrees in composition from Cedarville University and Bowling Green State University and a Ph.D. in composition from the University of North Texas. Paul studied composition with Marilyn Shrude, Elainie Lillios, Cindy McTee, Andrew May, David Bithell, and Joseph Klein and piano with John Mortensen. Paul plays accordion in the free improvisation ensemble Impulse and is an active free-lance accompanist. Before his position at TWU, Paul taught at the University of North Texas and Dallas Baptist University.

Paul is also an active choral composer, writing music for choirs of all skill levels. His music has been performed at ACDA, TMEA, MS/JH National Conference for Choral Music, and at various district and region concerts throughout the country. Paul's choral music is published through Hal Leonard, Carl Fischer, and BriLee Press. In his free time, Paul enjoys spending time with his family and watching British television shows.
