Mark Mummert

Mummert, Mark

Mark Mummert is Director of Worship at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Houston, where he is organist and director of the Chorus, Choristers, Music Explorers, and Taizé Ensemble. He served as Seminary Musician at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (1990-2008). He is a composer of the first setting of Holy Communion in Evangelical Lutheran Worship (2006), and editor of Psalm Settings for the Church Year (Augsburg Fortress 2008) and Music Sourcebook for Lent and the Three Days (Augsburg Fortress 2010). He was a visiting scholar with The Singing Church project (2011-2012) at Emory University's Candler School of Theology. An active member of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, he is also on the Advisory Council of the Institute of Liturgical Studies at Valparaiso University. A frequent clinician, hymn festival leader, writer, and teacher in the field of liturgical music and hymnody, Mark is passionate about assembly song and the renewal of Christian worship. Mark studied voice, organ, and choral conducting at Temple University's Esther Boyer School of Music and sings in the Houston Chamber Choir.
