Dodd Lamberton

Lamberton, Dodd

b. 1949

Dodd Lamberton grew up in Minneapolis. Early musical training was encouraged by William F. Wittmer at St. Peter's Lutheran School and O.B. Dahle at Southwest High School. Piano study with Marjorie Stranger and church organ positions during junior and senior high led him to the University of Minnesota, where, under Heinrich Fleischer, he earned a B.A. in organ and music theory. He went on to Indiana University, completing a master’s degree in organ performance with Clyde Holloway and Oswald Ragatz. He interrupted his graduate work for a term as Christ Chapel Organist and instructor of music at Gustavus Adolphus College.

Sensing a call to pastoral ministry, he entered Luther Seminary, where he was seminary organist and received an M.Div. degree. While serving as pastor of Lutheran congregations in Elmira, New York and Pottstown, Pennsylvania, he led hymn festivals and Synod assembly worship, arranged liturgical and choral music, and accompanied choirs at The Hill School. His musical arrangements have been published by Augsburg and MorningStar.
