This ground-breaking collection of Italian madrigals was compiled over a period of 12 years by scholars specializing in Renaissance music. Each of the anthologies in the series is beautifully engraved and bound in a 7 x 10 inch format suitable for performance or study.

The anthologies include prefatory materials covering the composer, the period, the music, performance practice, and appendices that include notes on the transcriptions, sources, and translations. Listed below are the collections. While most are a cappella, some include either optional or required instrumental accompaniment as marked.

GM3215 Luca Marenzio: The Complete Four Voice Madrigals
This volume contains the madrigals of Marenzio’s First Book of Madrigals for Four Voices (there is no evidence of a Second Book) which contained 21 madrigals, and an additional 9 madrigals, 4 of which are from his 1588 collection of madrigals for 4, 5, and 6 voices. The remaining 5 are from various sources. All but three are SATB. One of these is for double choir SATB/S(S)ATB, one of the sopranos in the second choir being optional.
